—  Why Eat Bitterness

The hard part is the whole point

—  The name

Why would anyone name a company Eat Bitterness?

吃苦

chī kǔ

The name is inspired by the Chinese concept 吃苦 (chī kǔ). Its literal translation is "eat bitterness." It describes the willingness to endure difficulty and do the hard work necessary to accomplish something worthwhile.

That philosophy is exactly what we built this company to do.

  • Calling hundreds of dormant leads is hard.
  • Following up when nobody else wants to is hard.
  • Saving an angry customer is hard.
  • Building trust with a stranger is hard.
  • Hearing "no" repeatedly and making the next call anyway is hard.

We eat bitterness.
We do the hard part.
